Squatters rights mean that once they have taken residence it can be difficult to remove them. There are cases where the home owner was arrested instead of the squatters and there is some vigilante justice going on with intimidating squatters since the police won’t just remove them.
Pandemic made it worse. West coast leftie cities.
Cheers man.
Gotcha man. Are the lefties faciliatating the squatting of other peoples property, actively encouraging it?
Both.
But that only works in states that are infected with the idea that there is no private property. That doesn't work in states with strong "castle doctrine" laws.
What does the law say in these circumstances? Is it not clear?
No. Especially since even if there is clear law, it is not enforced in favor of the property owner.
Interesting. I wonder why this weak pathetic legislature came about.
America has strong constitutional protections does it not.
Many from the old country paid dearly for their plot of dirt.
As predicted by many of the penmen of the constitution, it only works with an intelligent, well educated, moral citizenry.
We have very little of that now. 🤷♂️
It's not weak. It's strongly statist. That's the problem.
Gotcha, in other words it's deliberately vague then?
American law is a quagmire, I'll admit that I know nothing.
Even when the law is on their side, the process to remove squatters is crazy in favor of them not the property owner.
Large homeless populations mean that properties are prone to be targeted and high living costs are all contributing to a worsening issue.
I would place blame at the feet of the legislature and law enforcement.
It's either private property, or it's not.
One has to ask the question, why the legislature and law enforcement would circumvent their own laws (perhaps they haven't, I'm just projecting my stream of conciousness) to cosy up to neo-marxist bums.
Who is their allegience to?
Of course, all of this is exaccerbated by an increasingly irate youth that, out of a sense of economic hopelessness caused by fiat inflation theft, turn to radical Marxism, and end up supporting the abuse of private property, out of sheer ignorance, but with the righteous fervor of a winged huzzar.

The legislature is beholden to their donors. Law enforcement is simply an extortion racket.
Problem is snake eating its tail 🐍.
I heard someone explain that they will claim to be legal tenants, rather than squatters, and then the actual owner has to go through the courts to evict them.
Yes. They’re faking paperwork so cops won’t do anything in a he-said-she-said and courts are backlogged for months/years so they get a free place for ages
Vigilantism is fully justified in this scenario.
Saw a post on Xitter today about a woman beating another woman who murdered her daughter, beat her to death with a big crowd there as cops did nothing.
Given the unchecked violence and crime going around vigilantism will rise massively.
Society needs justice and if the State won’t deliver it, people will.
The free market is brutally effective at providing solutions to a gap in essential services. Brutal is the operative word here.
Of course, all of this is not beneficial to anyone, and smacks of orchestration. I've even begun to see this in Ireland.
It seems like somebody high up in something like antifa, has given the directive to begin this, but that's just my gut feeling. It's happening unilaterally on both sides of the pond.
I bought a house in Southern California a couple years ago, but escrow was held up for three months because of a squatter.
The main problem is that the money is broken.
Real estate is used as a store of value and source of revenue. People rent out rooms or use AirBnB as an investment.
The average price of a home in California is just over 11 bitcoin, but most people earning $25-$40 per hour with no assets to their name, can't afford a down payment of 1 bitcoin. My wife is a principal and could not qualify for a mortgage on her income alone. A decade ago, teacher's could qualify for a mortgage with 3 or 4 months salary. Now you'll need at least a year's salary and a second job.
And let's be honest, most people, if they save anything, save dollars.
This caused a severe housing shortage.
A significant percentage of working people can't afford a roof over there head.
The squaters are a Mandibles style situation. There are laws against squatting, but they take a long time and eviction can be expensive, but losing 6 months of rent is also expensive. I'm a bleeding heart libertarian, and the housing crisis bums me out. I feel bad for both the homeless and the homeowners. They're both victims of the fiat ponzi.
That's my thesis too. I tend to side with the property owner, but can see both sides.
It's fiat man, plain as day.
