As soon as Trump first mentioned tariffs against the EU, the commissioners in Brussels should have immediately abolished all tariffs on imports from the US and passed a directive ordering member states to reduce VAT.

VAT is not like a tariff, it does not discriminate against foreign goods, but Trump is right - why should American exporters be victims of a greedy European administration? If Europeans are victims of high taxes, it is their own fault because they vote for such policies, but Americans are not. VAT is too high no matter how you look at it.

Instead, EU bureaucrats are showing off, beat their chests with their fists and act like fools. We will answer decisively and adequately! Wow!

It will cause the worst economic crisis and recession in the history of the EU. That will be their answer.
