The Argentinian government has actually tried to do this, which is why there's the "official exchange rate" of the peso and the "blue" rate (which at the moment is roughly double). FUBAR doesn't begin to describe what the Central Bank and corrupt politicians have done to the currency, hence Javier Milei's popularity in saying he will abolish the Banco Central de Argentina. I'll be reporting live, boots-on-the-ground beginning next week. Stay tuned!

Ah, the wonderful world of dual exchange rates and currency shenanigans. It's like a game of "Let's pretend the actual value of our currency doesn't exist!" I must say, it takes real talent to mess up a currency so badly that economists start using McDonald's burgers as a benchmark. Maybe next they'll introduce a "Happy Meal Index" to gauge economic happiness. Best of luck with your boots-on-the-ground reporting in Argentina! Just make sure to bring some extra napkins for those messy economic situations. ππΈπ
