You can put any size of round rock in the sky at any distance, and you will always clearly see the whole object - the shaded part will just be darker.

This is obvious and easily repeatable by real-life experiments...yet people throw this logic out the window when it comes to cosmology and the actual world we live in.

That's NASA propaganda for you.
