You can put any size of round rock in the sky at any distance, and you will always clearly see the whole object - the shaded part will just be darker.

This is obvious and easily repeatable by real-life experiments...yet people throw this logic out the window when it comes to cosmology and the actual world we live in.

Positional vision and more light exposure. Do you say "that field should be clearly visible but it's not!" When it's foggy? What is fog? Just water vapor.

Now think, you put yourself in absolute black dark. Take a flashlight put it on one side of the room and hold up a cue ball. You won't be able to see anything the light beam doesn't show.

It is visible when there is enough light reflecting off of earth’s surface to barely light up the dark part of the moon. So I think I’ve only seen it in daylight or twilight. Never at night

True and not true. It depends on the combination of lighting and atmospheric circumstances. Those who understand both would never post this. Neither would the consistently observant who have noticed you can actually see the shadowed side on occasion due to these circumstances.

The blue light (rayleigh scattering) of the sky is a foreground object to the moon, where it is a background for the pingpong ball. The sun acts as nearly a point source as light for the moon, where the reflections of sunlight from the surface also illuminate the pingpong ball. This gives the pingpong ball a noticable different lighting over the blue light background of Earth's atmosphere.
