Absolutely astonishing historical fact that so many unique American cults and ideas trace their origins to a few counties in upstate New York. Mormons, 7th day Adventists (and by extension Jehovahās Witness), various popular occult practices, and even key aspects of feminism.
Nicely done. I only know what little Iāve seen about it on Nostr
āWhen we undermine black and white morals for a generation, the result is not greater acceptance, empathy, or tolerance for moral ambiguity, but quite the opposite: a shrill, brittle morality that turns us into judgers and haters.ā

Erica Kirk may be under duress. She already said āI would do anything to protect my family.ā She needs to be in witness protection.

Thank you Tucker. After this you are high on their elimination list. This is real courage.
This was a really good discussion.
This guy is as much a tyrant as the creeps in Washington. Just on a micro scale. And honestly the threats like that donāt even work unless the husband makes 2+ times the median income. Hard and fast rules like this are ridiculous.
Anyway, almost all the current strife between the sexes is driven by economic factors. But thatās a whole other topic.
And to those men who do have significant economic power over their wives (rarer these days) thus says the Lord:
āBecause the Lord has been witness between you and the wife of your youth, whom you have forsaken; yet she is your companion and the wife of your covenant. But did He not make another, having a remnant of His Spirit? Yet you ask, āWhat else does God seek but offspring?ā But take heed to your spirit, and do not forsake the wife of your youth. āBut if you hate her and send her away,ā says the Lord God of Israel, āungodliness will obscure your thinking,ā says the Lord Almighty. āSo take heed to your spirit, that you do not forsake her.āā (Malachi 2:14-16, OSB)
Those advising abandoning wives and children just to look āmasculineā are not serving God.
It is visible when there is enough light reflecting off of earthās surface to barely light up the dark part of the moon. So I think Iāve only seen it in daylight or twilight. Never at night
No I never took a picture, didnāt expect that the shape of the moon would ever be controversial
For those that want to get to the roots of the issues with modernity, I highly recommend this deep dive into ānominalismā vs. ārealismā.
Deep philosophical metaphysics, but once you get it this has remarkable explanatory power.

Is this a joke? Not a serious argument by any means. And yes, I have seen the whole sphere of the crescent moon. Multiple times in fact!
I believe in one God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth and of all things seen and unseen.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, begotten of the Father before all worlds, Light from Light, very God of very God, begotten not made, of one essence with the Father, by whom all things were created.
Islam rejects that Christ.
This seems like a silly post. But it got me thinking: how does America deal with the many predatory acts in her history? Thankfully there are many beautiful examples from Christian history of predatory nations repenting and embracing the way of Christ.
I love the example of the Vikings as those cruel violent people embrace Christ as their king.

No people group is beyond repentance: Vikings, Visigoths, Romans and the Celts all demonstrate that. And today, even Turks, Americans, and Israelis can find salvation through repenting and following Christ.

Drives me nuts every time I hear podcasters talking about how they canāt say things because of YouTube. I know yāall are trying to reach NPCs on YouTube, but is it possible to put out the podcast first and then make a censored version that goes on YouTube later? There should be no awake and aware people who still use YouTube primarily. /rant

Therefore do not fear them. For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, and hidden that will not be known. (Matthew 10:26)
True fact. My wife and I have worked through a lot to figure out healthy ways of doing marriage and parenting. Itās been a journey for sure.
Yeah many women have said they feel dehumanized by men refusing to look at them at all. Itās much better to just treat attractive women just like you would treat anyone else. Itās perfectly okay to notice beauty and praise the creator of that beauty. Doesnāt have to turn into ogling or lust.
My parents were deeply influenced by Doug Wilson, Bill Gothard, James Dobson, etc. They followed the rules. They did everything by the book. High control.
It didnāt work. At all. The results are pain, divorce, fractures. Half my siblings refuse to talk to my dad. Only my dad is still protestant. Everyone else is orthodox or catholic or walked away from faith altogether. The pain from these terrible teachings has lasting consequences.
Iām sharing these episodes in hopes that maybe one family will be spared the pain that we went through. There are a lot of good people here on Nostr who are finding Jesus and trying to do life right, just like my parents were before they got sucked into Wilsonās orbit.
I highly recommend listening to this episode even if you listen to none of the others. The two guests make very solid arguments, which are fully consistent with sound doctrine.
And to front run the haters, Iām not a theological liberal, a feminist, or an apologist for the cultural zeitgeist. Maybe Iām a little bitter at Wilson, but I have to be at this point just so I donāt blame my parents. Wilson probably wouldnāt take an ounce of responsibility for his role in this. But for him, ideology comes first, and so even if my family is a casualty of his crusade itās a price worth paying.
Wilson does lean towards Orthodoxy on several particular topics, namely infant communion and aspects of his understanding of salvation and grace. But thatās not necessarily a good thing. Taking bits of Orthodoxy into a Protestant framework can cause lots of issues.
An example of this is Bill Gothard, who defined grace as āthe power that God gives us to do his willā. Thatās closer to the Orthodox understanding than most Protestants are. But he keeps that understanding of grace within a typical Protestant Penal Substitution Atonement model where salvation is getting God to be not mad at you anymore. Take that definition of Grace and put it into Eph. 2:8, and salvation (from the wrath of God) becomes a matter of doing enough good works. In addition, this is within a sort of prosperity gospel framework where bad things that happen to you are always your fault for stepping outside of Godās will or having insufficient good works etc etc.
Wilson does something very similar to Gothard but of course couches it in much more rhetorical sophistication. Ultimately it is a theological system that is designed for cult-like control. Those within the system can never be sure if they are under wrath or under grace (itās a total binary) because a state of grace is demonstrated by showing sufficient works and obedience to those in authority. I grew up in a Wilson/Gothard influenced household and I always believed (until my mid teens) that God was mad at me and I was āunsavedā and heading for Hell because of some deficiency of my faith as expressed by my works/obedience. It was only as a teenager that I got a sense of peace that God loved me and was unconditionally for me that I was finally able to experience and grow in the spiritual walk (not coincidentally, Wilsonās influence in our family diminished at that time).
In summary, if your going to be Orthodox be Orthodox, and if your going to be Reformed be Reformed. Donāt mix and match between theological systems. No good can come of it.
