"A false balance is abomination to the Lord: but a just weight is his delight."

It's 2026 and X expects me to create an account to watch a video one of its users swiped and uploaded from someone else's TikTok account 🤡

Smart washer and dryer are the worst. Haven't been so disappointed with a purchase since I bought DASH at $600 🤣

Cool name. That's about as far as I've gotten so far 😂

Calmly and intelligently explaining the reasons private gun ownership is beneficial and necessary has done precious little to preserve the right. It will be no different for the defense of personal privacy.

The solution to government attempts to erode personal privacy is two-pronged:

1) build tools to protect privacy, and

2) poison the hearts of the people against government secrecy

If no privacy for us, then no secrecy for you. Full stop.

God bless the leakers and whistleblowers, especially the ones who've been persecuted for it.

No shortage of Meshtastic how-to videos on YT but few that go into this much detail honestly covering both the good and bad.

Mesh-anything by its nature needs mass adoption to be useful and speaking as my inner circle's designated 'interpreter' of "nerd stuff", in its current form this has almost zero chance of mass adoption by normies, even those who are into disaster prep. Based on my initial experience, MeshCore seems to have a better chance of achieving that goal and even that may be optimistic.

Just one example: maybe I was overlooking something but never was able to figure out how to share channel settings by QR code from Android to iPhone, and it's awfully coincidental that all of the how-to videos I've seen always demo the reverse - sharing from iPhone to Android.

I agree that Meshtastic is amazing when it works but not sure if that's due more to the fact it uses affordable low power hardware or because the setup process is enough to make you want to toss it all in the trash and buy a CB radio.

Don't know the guy personally but wouldn't be the least bit surprised if Jack Dorsey's motivation to create his bitchat app came from test-driving Meshtastic.

Why, did YT put the 0.5X button behind a paywall? 🤣

No matter how bad things get, Ben will always be able to find work as an auctioneer or the side-effects reader in a pharma ad 🤣

I don't follow her socials to know but has Senator Warren been as vocal about the energy consumption of AI as she has been about bitcoin mining?

Avalon mini 3 has a mining mode that uses full power and fan speed, and a heat mode that uses less power but because it runs at a slower fan speed, the unit itself gets significantly hotter and doesn't circulate air well in the room.

Not sure if I should run it in mining mode (ignoring the 80% rule) or heater mode with a desk fan blowing on it to help move heat.

Also tried to update the firmware and it just kept throwing E-01 error.

There's a lot I still don't understand about Meshtastic and MeshCore but I assume there's a good reason that mesh-related discussion needs to take place on a centralized social media platform as opposed to just using the mesh?

⚡️🔔 A YEAR PASSES TOGETHER - One year is a complete revolution of the Earth around the Sun.

Today, nostr:nprofile1qqsy67zzq5tc9cxnl6crf52s4hptdwhyaca5j7r8jwll535tdadedvcprpmhxue69uhhqun9d45h2mfwwpexjmtpdshxuet5qy28wumn8ghj7un9d3shjtnyv9kh2uewd9hsat8e57 closes its challenge and honors its promise: to inform you for a full year, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day — weekends and public holidays included.

At first, I wanted to end on a high note. I had countless ideas: making a video edited by myself, coding a website for the occasion, doing a live stream… Then I remembered the best advice I received here: “Stay humble.”

So I’ll keep it simple.

First and foremost, please know that I am proud to have kept you informed for an entire year, with transparency, consistency, and objectivity. Believe it or not, all my notes have only one intention: to convey the truth. If some of them have upset you, that's not my problem; it's just that reality is sometimes harsh.

Here is my latest POW, the complete summary:

➥ 11,500 + 19,100 = 30,600 activity traces

➥ 30,600 / 365 = 83.83 activity traces per day

➥ 19,100 / 365 = 52.33 notes per day

➥ 8 × 365 = 2,920 hours of work

Result:

➥ 0 → 16,500 followers

➥ 0 → 5 million sats

I gave myself the means to achieve this. If you follow me, you know that I was present in your feed at any time of the day, without any automation. I swear. Everything was done by hand. The Flash touch is visible on each of my notes—that's what defines my work.

I didn't meet all my goals, but I exceeded some of them. For example, I didn't expect to reach 16,500 followers; I was aiming for 5,000.

On the other hand, where I failed was on the stack. I expected to reach at least 0.1 BTC. In the end, I barely managed to reach half that — until yesterday, I was still at 0.04 BTC.

But there is also something that was not planned for, and which far exceeds all the numerical targets mentioned above: your trust.

My greatest achievement is having managed to earn it. Honestly, it was not something I had included in my forecasts. Trust cannot be planned or forced—it is built, day after day, note after note.

Beyond the numbers, that's what really matters. Everything can be measured except trust. And yet, today on Nostr, that's my most valuable asset.

Not to mention the wonderful people I have met here. For fear of forgetting anyone, I won't mention any names, but know this: I know your usernames, your photos, your writing style, your way of zapping. I have observed everything, taken everything into consideration, with the utmost respect. Thank you all, you have been the fuel for Flash, because without you I would have stopped a long time ago.

Before I leave you, I would sincerely like your feedback:

➥ What did you think of Flash’s work throughout 2025?

➥ What do you expect from me for the coming year?

As they say, it’s at the end of the dance that the musicians get paid. Here are the two ways to support my work ⤵︎

➥ Lightning address: flash@primal.net

➥ Bitcoin address: bc1qwn8ralumqgar7vqfhftr264a7dxp0akstwx9fq

Thanks to Flash (and a handful of news bots), I can spend more time on Nostr and less time on sites that try to frighten us into buying crap we don't need. The killer feature of zaps and boostagrams is that in this tough economy, you're not forced to choose between donating more than you can afford or nothing at all.

Maybe add a tip of the day to the feed. How-tos or product recommendations.

Keep up the great work!

What the heck is DLR talking about?

I've looked all over this Christmas stocking and don't see a line running up the back.

Is he talking about the stitching? 🤣

Seems like only yesterday folks were predicting 250k by EoY 🤣

"Those who know aren't saying, and those who are saying don't know."

This touches on an issue that I don't think has been given much thought. If we view the algorithmic amplification of big tech platforms as akin to an addictive substance, it would probably be best if new users weren't forced to visit those platforms in search of guidance on the use of sovereignty tools.

Hosting your nostr/bitcoin how-tos on platforms like YouTube feels a little like having your AA meetings at the pub.

I suppose we're all guilty of casting a stumbling block before our fellow nostrich whenever we share a link to content on a big tech platform but what are the alternatives, and how many years of computer science education must one have to use them? Based on my own experiences, it's looking more and more like the road to freedom lies behind an unavoidable command prompt. Maybe the GUI itself was the start of our enslavement. If so, I'm definitely a slave on the digital plantation.

Very smart of YouTube to make it difficult to impossible for users to download video files for local archiving or sharing elsewhere. That's why I'm skeptical of 'alternative' streaming platforms that do the same. They're not acting in a manner consistent with a company that wants to free the world, but someone who wants to be the new boss.

"...$50,000 | 44,327,813 sats..."

Opportunity Cost browser extension has helped me realize I'd probably be more open to accepting a bribe if it was denominated in sats 🤣

Turned off the enhanced privacy toggle in Primal and the connection error went away.

See if she'll let me post two notes in a row...

The legal immunity thing needs to either go away or be expanded to every industry.

Honestly it would be entertaining to watch heads on both sides explode if Trump promoted the idea of a special EV court to handle injuries caused by self-driving Teslas.

There's a weird comfort in having to switch to my wallet app to zap instead of it being handled automatically by the client. Feels more real.

Android display settings be like "You can have any font size you want but if you wanna see all of the text that's on the page, you'd better choose 'Default'" 🤣

Listening to a deputy on the scanner complain to dispatch that one of the local traffic lights is taking 5+ minutes to change has me wondering if traffic lights are run by the same software as Walmart's self checkout machines.

We need somebody to reboot the traffic lights! 😂
