Also wrong order of things for semiconductors. ASML/AM/etc, on top of that TMSC/GF/…, on top of that the EDA companies.

We should also not forget about the major non-cutting-edge semiconductor manufactuers + discrete components like Infineon, Nexperia (which caused the recent meltdown of some automotive supply chains), TI, Analog Devices, ST, NXP, etc.. (which also were involved in the COVID chip shortage)

I was blown away by how much Infineon was in everything automotive. Their stuff is SOOO locked down in my brief experience. I'm not familiar with Nexperia

They mostly make discrete components like transistors etc. The main pain is requalifying parts…

In 2011+ Ford and GM boxes I was working with they made the processors in the ecu and injection controllers.

I was talking about Nexperia, but Infineon is active a lot in the automotive processor space
