Once again I have an exciting discussion at home. And would like to pass on the question again:

How long can you concentrate on one thing at a time? That is, do nothing on the side and sit and work fully focused on a project or something similar.

How do you recover after such a phase? And how long do you need a break before you can continue?

the more complex the problem, the longer i can stay focused on it. sometimes my problem is getting away from it. i know it's time for a break when signs of burnout is apparent.

That sounds interesting. Would you say that you are then in a kind of flow? And does it depend on how interested you are in the task?

yes on both. the higher my interest, the longer i can stay focused. same with the level of importance to prioritise. i rarely involve myself in things that do not interest or are not important to me. i prefer not to waste time.

Then you are in the lucky situation to be able to design your work on your own. That is also my goal. At the moment, however, I simply have projects on my desk that aren't just exciting.

i was there once so i understand. my solution was that i made myself my own boss. good luck to you. it's life changing.

On one thing only no more than 15m. Multi tasking I can stay indefinitely but degrading in overall performance.

Optimal? 45m + 15m break

I feel very much the same way. I find it difficult to stay highly concentrated for longer than 45 or 60 minutes. Sometimes with complex questions, however, only 20-30 minutes. I like to leave the screen during the break. Walk a little. Drinking water is also good.

Absolutely. Walk, breathe, drink, stretch your legs away from the screen. Way less tired at the end of the day, much better results at work, whatever the job is.

I think I have noticed a correlation between cell phone use and my ability to concentrate. Lately been trying harder to avoid the smartphone and I notice I am able to think clearer and focus up more.

The more I'm into something the easier I find it is to get into the zone. Less interested the more I see myself get easily sidetracked.

After a bender of unlimited energy towards something it probably takes me a screenless weekend to recover.

The cell phone is really terrible in terms of distraction. I also try to set up times without a cell phone more and more often. Even when I'm not working. Time without a cell phone is time gained, but it's hard for me to do without it. However, I notice that it does me good. But I love to dive into topics
