Been out of the nostr for a while and was surprised by the user stats at https://stats.nostr.band/ I know they are not 100% accurate but I think they carry some truth. Why do you think nostr daily active users are dwindling? I have my reasons but I'm curious to read other's opinions on the matter.

some people pumped on aug 21 on twitter. it got some momentum. then it faded. on sep 20 there was replyguy spam.

1. The same handful of people dominate all trending content and have pretty much forever.

2. Said people that could amplify new voices often don't.

3. The plebs below them mainly only comment on said trending people's content.

4. If you're new and get zero interaction, it's just easier to cut bait and go back to your established platforms.

5. The spam over the last several weeks made searching for content an absolute nightmare.

6. Discovery of content in general varies widely from client to client.

7. Moreover, the UX is pretty rough and users are spoiled by mature social media clients.

8. People really don't want to have to deal with relay management to get content.

9. The inability to edit/delete in most clients is a major issue.

10. Some people just don't want to put in the work to establish themselves here.

I'm sure I could come up with more but those are the quickies of the top of the head.

The jump in volatility after Aug 1 is unnatural. The steady increase with low variability continued for several months prior to the cutoff in the six month window. So there's been some change to the measurement process or data sources. I can't give any credence to these figures unfortunately.

same thing that happened a while ago: statistics are broken

Hola bro se te extraño 👏

Guess:

They were here for another X with less restrictions. They were disappointed.

They realized where they belong.

Some guy on SimpleX called us an "echo chamber with circle jerk ethos" (direct quote). I think there is also some misconception around nostr being a "spy protocol" funded by Dorsey and cannot be used privately.

I'm here more. Sure it wasn't just northern hemisphere summer?
