I retrofit bitcoin miners and turn them into quiet heaters that pay you (more than the cost of electricity) to run them. I want to do as much good for as many people as possible - this is my mission.

I've identified Northern Ontario and Quebec Indigenous tribes as a segment that I can positively affect due to the presence of cold temperatures and low or subsidized power costs. In these regions, you can get paid to heat your home 🤯. My end goal is to help create a circular economy that runs on bitcoin - the ultimate form of sovereignty.

There are so many well-aligned incentives here. These systems typically ROI in about 12 months (without including bitcoin's approx. 50% CGAR).

If you are interested or can help, please reach-out (http://256heat.com). There are compelling social, financial and educational incentives associated with this type of project.

I'll be talking about this more on the mining stage at

That's really cool. Our local group has been slowly working towards this sort of thing. Mostly still just modifying miners as space heaters for now but one of our members hooked his into his hvac. Yours are very professional setups!

What sort of thermostat are you using in that last photo?

What is the electric cost where you're setting these up?

Curious 🧐

If people want an open source thermostat to go with your high tech heating system, I build the #HestiaPi thermostats.

I'd be happy help test and maybe try to get the pi speaking zigbee, but I can't afford a $500 heater. If you're interested in collaborating, maybe I could send you a complimentary HestiaPi?

My motivation is that I want people to be able to have nice things like wifi enabled thermostats without having to give up their privacy.

I’m in northern AB and just recently getting my feet wet on mining. Our company (in an unrelated business line) has MOU’s with First Nations bands here and in northern SK. We just started a joint venture with Meadow Lake Tribal Council to do vegetation management projects for SaskPower. On the Alberta side it’s mostly been for ATCO Electric and Fortis. I’d be interested in learning more. I’ll check out your site.

Upstream Data also has a manufacturing facility for their Bitcoin mining skids for oil and gas sites about an hour and a half away in Lloydminster. I’ve reached out to them a few times about business development opportunities but haven’t ever heard back from them. I was thinking about stopping by there when I’m over there doing estimates in Lloyd in the next few weeks.

It looks like you’ve plugged into something good that can have a positive impact on communities and leverage power subsidies in a beneficial way.

Really love this kind of project! Have you ever given any thought as to how you might fit miner heat into a radiator system? Most houses in the UK use a gas boiler (for hot water and heating) and a radiator system which isn't a perfect pairing.

Energy bills and old homes are a real issue in the UK, especially for elderly people and it makes me wonder if there is a solution somewhere in the heatpunk world?

WiFi PDU switch is neat. What's the max amps rating at 240V?
