Logic please. My prejudice is you are correct
Discussion
Example,
You fat finger a note.
By accident doxx your license plate or any other identifiers.
You have been completely doxxed, and want to start fresh without your previous data lying around.
You're a dissident posting about a regime & want your notes to expire in effect getting the message out but blackholing the ability to trace a note back to IP addressing.
Prob many more reasons to give users full control of their data.
would be a cool feature
I agree its an important part of privacy and control over your own content, however in regard to censorship resistance this ability to withdraw your content can prevent a chilling effect. On the other hand, any promise to delete content can never be a guarantee since once its been transmitted to a relay it will have been rebroadcast to untold places and any perceived promise to delete may give a false and dangerous confidence to the dissident
I agree, this is why it should be the standard.
I wonder how this could be achieved.
If not, oh well!
Once a secret is revealed, whether intentionally or not, it can never be concealed again without the use of force.
I tend to agree. I haven't thought through it enough but here's another aspect.
Relays can already delete/block/censor any npub they want. Allowing the key holder to delete their own notes doesn't seem to provide much of any benefit on the censorship resistance side.
The censorship resistance of Nostr is more about there being many relays coupled with the signing of messages allowing for more privacy than having a centralized ID system.
