In the vein of real protest songs, I’m curious: what is your favorite protest song?

I’m a big fan of “Call It Democracy” by Bruce Cockburn

It’s a song about the IMF and the lyrics are incredible.

I wouldn't call it full-on "real protest songs", but I actually enjoy the duology of Jennifer Rostock - Hengstin and Bass Sultan Hengzt's "cover" of it.

Jennifer putting out thesis and some things I could see as facts about how women are treated AND treating themselves, whilst BSH takes a more commedic approach to representing the dumbest man possible - in a way.

So, not the most protest-y songs out there, but I find their respective messages quite powerful.

That said, both songs are not for everyone's taste on a purely musical level. I like them, but... they certainly have a style to them. ^^'

It has many covers and recreations. Nowadays people sing it in gatherings and over the graves of their loved ones.

Not sure if this is a 100% protest song, but I feel like it is. Anyways , just a great song - “Ball of confusion” by The Temptations. Just a side note - I’ve heard this song for the first time in a film, which is not a protest movie but one of the best comedies of the last 20 years imo - Tropic Thunder 😁.
