So at 50 BTC per block he would have to have mined 2000 blocks over the course of a span of just a few weeks to earn 100,000 BTC. Did I math right?

I just ordered the book “Digital Gold” by Nathaniel Popper fro the library, supposed to tell this story and should be a good read.
