Trump will crash the economy with tariffs, then Congress and the fed will bail out all in order to hide the systemic cracks and fizzures.

meanwhile, the IRS will tax at the inflated wages and goods prices.

new guy, same results

oh yeah, this is gonna be a fun few years ..

You're halfway there. You are correct in that, a life of cheap consumer goods will come to end, but you aren't thinking like a corp.

If I have a facility in Mexico and want to sell cars in the US, can I afford to exclude myself from that market... No. So how do I avoid paying tariffs?

I move my factory to the US and employ Americans. American products for American workers.

Free market economy doesn't work if your labor market is competing with slave labor and American goods are tariffed at the foreign border. Globalisation is what is killing the US and an anti-american sentiment in trade agreements. Not Tariffs.

More manufacturing creates a surplus of jobs, and increases wages... which increase tax revenue.

More jobs, less people, more competitive wages to attract talent.

The same way it did during his first term.

Most will just close down instead. Consumerism will begin to shutdown. The recession is already here anyways, this just covers the tracks. Nobody wins in trade and tariffs wars. ever.

It will take a decade if not more to do so. by they time, the Dems will take control back likely.

Free trade is the only way. we don't have it now, and we certainly should not encourage the lack thereof however.

I don't particularly think it's good if companies employee Americans for manufacturing these foodsor. We are not industrializing anymore.

Trying to understand your comment that we are not industrilizing anymore.

Do we have more products or less products than before? Each one of those products is make in a factory.

Again, we've already had trump and everythong that everyone said isn't possible anymore was turned on its head. Namely "those jobs are gone forever"... But they weren't.

We are industrialized. We stopped industrializing 30 plus years ago. Maybe 40. I have no desire to work in a factory, neither do most. This isn't 1950. We have tech, software, Bitcoin mining, research, labs, science, hardware and chips we can be building. Not stamped and forged car parts, wiring and little pill viles. We will never compete with developing countries of that is the goal.

Personally, it isn't my goal.

I can appreciate your personal opinion on that. But it's a luxury. The tech industry forgets that the supply chain starts with ore and other raw resources.

We have an abundance of natural resources and that's exactly where the jobs will be generated. Filling in all the gaps of our supply chain from ore to production. A self-reliant economy is Trump's plan.

It works.

lol. Trump has no plan.

Time will tell if pessimism is warranted. Respectfully, I disagree.

We will never know, because he isn't going to implement massive general tarrifs at all. it's a lie at worst, a fake campaign promise to lure his base in who doesn't understand money and global trade at best.

Either way, it matters not

unless Trump stops the money printer(he won't), American made that goods at a decent price will always be impossible. it is by design.

And for the record, we don't have free trade. We have tariffs against American goods and open borders for foreign goods.

Every other nation in the world protects its own industries with tariffs

yes, I said that earlier. we would all be better off if we did. I owe and am owed nothing from or to the person 500 miles away just because we happen to have the same country of birth.
