What it means is don't rely on your own understanding but rely on the word of God. The word of God is the Bible. Our own understanding can deceive us.

Your own understanding lies between you & the Bible too. The Bible is one of the most difficult collections of books to make any sense of that I have ever encountered. It's always important to understand & remember that we are good at deceiving ourselves, but it's just as easy (if not easier) to do when reading the Bible as with any other endeavor.

I started The Bible in a Year podcast by Mike Schmitz and that's been helping me understand all the stories

The Bible Project videos are also good. I have a friend who has gone through Revelations on his Unbinding the Bible podcast. Jordan Peterson's Bible talks are great. There's another guy I really like with lot of youtube content & his name is escaping me right now. I think he has done a video or two with Jordan Peterson. But in general there is not some sort of clear & perfect interpretation.

I think reading Gulag Archipelago & Ordinary Men & Atlas Shrugged (among other things) might be as helpful in understanding the Bible as anything else I have done. Reading about hell brought to life provides a pretty good foundation for making sense of the patterns that play out in Bible stories too.

Bible Project also has an incredible podcast Iโ€™ve been wanting to recommend to you nostr:npub1ajv7m32k0cpgzha32qszsh304qusjvwwmavus0ttktzldms4xzusuftppj

I think they have a lot more episodes than they do videos:
