Bigger wheels might look better and allow for larger brakes, but they negatively impact ride and handling, they're more expensive, and they sap energy efficiency.

This, so much this. I really don't get what the car industry's fascination of the ever growing wheel sizes. All it does is to jack up the cost, make the ride worse and decrease efficiency.

I get the need for larger brakes due to cars being larger but 19 - 22" wheels, like seriously?
