20 month old has been going through a sleep regression for months, waking up every few hours.

Tonight he's falling asleep on me but cries when I put him down.

Wife is 7 months pregnant and exhausted.

I have no idea how parents cope when they have a toddler that won't sleep as well as a newborn.

Any advice would be appreciated #nostr #parents

I have a 2.5 yo and a 9 mo old. It’s never easy. My best advice would be just sleep with them. It’s really not a big deal. People make it seem like blasphemy to share a bed with a toddler/infant. Just do your best. My 2 yo sleeps in her own bed now no problem and she shared the bed with my wife and me many times.

Yea we end up just putting him in bed with us but it's a very small bed and he's a massive fidget so we don't get much sleep!

lol before kids I used to be a strict 8 hours of sleep. Now if I get 7 it’s a good night. Generally it’s 6-6.5hrs.

Yeah same but kids don't stick to a schedule haha. I guess it's part of the cost of being a parent. I just wish we could have started younger when we had more energy

Agree with Rojo- the wee ones want to feel safe and connected-close, you and mom need sleep. Don’t let the “experts” get in the way of doing what your kids and family need. Instead of letting them cry it out, I always tried to hug it out. No words, no rationalizing (even with 6,7,8 year olds) but strong hugs/holding/embrace and maybe some humming usually helped calm to sleep. Best of luck!
