People can help by testing and reviewing even if it is not included in a planned, major version (29.0 I guess). Risk averse people will probably stay on an older version. I am still confused and can't understand rationale behind keeping the new functionality disabled by default.
It will be included in the 29.0 release, you just have to check a box in the GUI to enable it.
