NIP-05 is not verification 🤣
Read the spec. Anyone that mentions verification is WRONG. It's an identity. Plain and simple. Full stop.

💯 it’s an identity. If you trust the identity from the NIP-05 identifier, you can trust the pubkey. That’s all.
Then why was the SBF spam account just kicked off? Isn’t that spam account an identity in and of itself? Unless it’s because it’s claiming to be someone else thereby implying verification.
It's spam and it's impersonation, two things that we do not allow. The account owner can identify as an impersonator and spammer all they want elsewhere.
Can we boost this to the fucking moon? Seems to mean like the most common misconception.
Verifying identification vs. identifying verification
There is no verification besides verifying that it's being displayed on your profile.
