I always wondered if you could "daisy-chain" a node setup with multiple HDs like this...

I recently upgraded to a mirrored RAID for my node. The redundancy is nice.

Very nice!

It was mainly for the LN side of my node. As I build out channels id really hate for a HD crash to force me to lose all my channels.

I don’t know enough about Linux yet but could you add another ssd and mount it to the data directory of bitcoin core? The place it saves the data to?

I have never tried to do this, nor have I ever tried to select multiple directories at initial setup.

I dont see why not but Im not the best with mount points in hard drives but it would for sure take some finagling.

If you wanted to upgrade your nodes data drive you might have an easier time taking the node down for a few hours while you plug in the new HD, copy over the data directory, point core at the new data drive and catch up.

Thanks. I’ll have to look into that down the road.

No worries. Always happy to help with tech stuff when I can.
