Watched The Fountain (2006), directed by Darren Aronofsky. His third one. It’s a sci-fi movie about mortality and love. It’s interesting because there’s 3 stories happening at different times in history: spanish inquisition, current times and the future. Absolutely beautiful movie. The photography is amazing again. The plot is hazy at time. Enjoyed it still. The score was much better than the movie itself 7.5/10 #nodereviews

I gotta check it out. Loved Pi and Requiem for a Dream.
Let me know what you think of it
Masterpiece
Have you watched The Holy mountain??
I don’t think so no. You recommend it?
Whaaaaa dude yes like 21,000 percent. That’s an absolute must for everyone here on nostr
Ah it’s a Jodorowsky. I should add all his stuff to Jellyfin and the movie festival. Haven’t seen any. I have read all of his graphic novel series: The matabarons
I really like most of Aronofsky's work. I'm disappointed he doesn't have UHD releases. Even his one UHD, Mother!, seemed to use fake, upscaling, so not a real UHD.
The Fountain would be amazing in UHD, but I fear the original footage might only be 1080p.
Can’t wait to rewatch Mother! Really enjoyed that one. Only time I saw it was at the movies. Really impressive
I feel like this movie is incredibly redundant, blunt, and on the nose. The writing is the weakest link. We loved it the first time, hated it the second time. I’m glad you liked it though.
I find the story is hazy but on purpose. A bit like a Claire Denis movie. Basically the story isn’t that important. It’s more the feel of the movie
That’s true. It falls into more of the feely art house genre. Although it rides the line of being a more accessible drama because of the on the nose dialog. My fiancé’s 80 year old grand parents got the point of the movie but didn’t understand why it had to be presented in such a weird way. I’d love to re-edit the movie and trim a ton of dialog so you have to engage a bit more with the meaning.
Loved the representation of greed in the movie. One of best I’ve seen yet. Getting punished by greed
Yeah he eats the sap and turns into plants. Some fun body horror! The visuals are so rich in the fountain. I really could give it another shot and maybe appreciate it more
I’ll definitely watch it again in the future
This is one of my favorite movies because of the way I interpreted it throughout. Time being an illusion, the heroes journal is timeless and forever and we're all on it and everything is happening at the same time but there is an end and a beginning.
