I always have a good chuckle when people worry about bitcoin mining and decentralization… the opportunity cost of bitcoin mining is found in wasted energy. In a few decades the thought of paying for energy to mine bitcoin will be absurd (because it simply won’t be profitable). Load demand response is an industry of its own. Miners will get paid because they have a need to get rid of energy, not a need to flip a small profit on a slim margin.
