also, how many times did the O2 sensor go out?

I think I replaced that when I first got it, so just once out of 3-4 years of ownership.
Sounds like you got lucky. I knew someone who had one at the ready in the glove box π
We had a 2012 Jetta prior to getting the 2021 Atlas. Had zero problems out of it, except the timing belt or chain went kaput at about 200K miles. Then in November some jackass t-boned my wife and totaled the Jetta, but that little car saved her life. Turns out the guy that hit her had the state minimum insurance, has no assets, etc. Anyways, long story short, we loved our freaking Jetta, and to be honest, weβre all surprised we got a good life out of it considering it was a rental car for about a year before we got it.
Driving my Jetta was a blast. It was a turbo with manual transmission, and had way better handling than any of my previous vehicles. It also saved my life in a major accident. Older cars would have left me with severe injuries instead of bag burn and a scraped knuckle.
Ours was an automatic but it had that sport mode with the slap shift. Was fun haha
