I had a 2003 Jetta and never had an issue finding parts. Quite the opposite, as there were plenty of options to choose from, and I could nearly always find prices that were cheaper than fixing the same part on another vehicle. However, I did have to work on it frequently. Once it hit the 10 year mark, nearly all switches and lights in the dash quit working properly and, the windshield wipers wouldn't quite follow what the controls told them to, etc. Sometimes they would be off, I would go over a bump, then they'd do a single sweep.

I think I replaced that when I first got it, so just once out of 3-4 years of ownership.

We had a 2012 Jetta prior to getting the 2021 Atlas. Had zero problems out of it, except the timing belt or chain went kaput at about 200K miles. Then in November some jackass t-boned my wife and totaled the Jetta, but that little car saved her life. Turns out the guy that hit her had the state minimum insurance, has no assets, etc. Anyways, long story short, we loved our freaking Jetta, and to be honest, we’re all surprised we got a good life out of it considering it was a rental car for about a year before we got it.

Driving my Jetta was a blast. It was a turbo with manual transmission, and had way better handling than any of my previous vehicles. It also saved my life in a major accident. Older cars would have left me with severe injuries instead of bag burn and a scraped knuckle.

Ours was an automatic but it had that sport mode with the slap shift. Was fun haha
