What would make for a healthier social network? I’m thinking the ideal network would connect you to people irl.

Less addictive is a huge plus but nothing beats making friends 🤷‍♂️

You probably also don’t want to absorb the entire world’s news. Maybe it gets you involved in the local community more (meetups)

Seems like nostr is well positioned to transform social media to social networking - the way it was intended to be.

I wonder what would happen if you got rid of likes, follower counts. Focus on conversation and let good comments (anon ranked) be the measure of quality notes 🧐

Feels like it could have the unintended consequence of removing the feedback loop that lets people know what is socially acceptable/desirable.

Idk. That sounds like “like” with more taps. Not trying to be an ass. Just trying to think this through.

I guess there’s a difference possibly in what’s healthy, and what is going to be broadly popular? Low effort interaction is kinda the appeal of social media broadly speaking.

I can imagine a "like" as a nod in a conversation irl.

On amethyst I use them to send love, wonder and hugs. 🫂

There should be a separation between what NIPs came as a way to "clone" Twitter and what came as a sincere need to interact with others.

We should probably look at the discussion for every NIP and see what really matters.
