MDN them all into dev boxes with custom ChromeOS image to use GraphoneOS as the Android "emulator" and pre-activate the Linux subsystem with chromebrew.

They're weak, yes, but powerful enough to teach coding - and I unironically like ChromeOS. Most accessible "linux distro" out there xD

They’re out of official support. Never thought about foss mdm. Does it exist?

Hmm. TIL. Will visit later, thanks

Oh neat, never seen that. Thanks!

I mean... You could make Puppet/Ansible work for that purpose. Since those Chromebooks aren't really "locked", you could build a small modified master image that exposes SSH. From there, you can just use any sysops tool in place of an MDN. A bit clunky, but actually not too much different; you would be writing a lot of config files rather than clicking buttons in a device manager like Microsoft's or Apple's but the result is the same - to attain a certain state on the device :)

Already setting up preseeding through a clonezilla box, wouldn’t be too difficult. But that’s management without use, I still need that bit.

Hmm I have an old Acer #Chromebook (R11 perhaps?) - I can't remember how much memory it has but maybe I should try to put #Linux on it.
