Mainstream doesn’t care about - without censorship.

They just want discoverability, algos, and reach.

You are confident that you know what everyone wants?

not everyone, just look at what’s popular and listen to what they want

nostr not being about bitcoin will grow it quicker

Twitter wasn’t about Bitcoin, but it formed, and honestly Bitcoin Twitter is a hot mess right now, glad the community is here supporting devs with zaps.

But seeing Jack’s mom say good morning here is what people are after imo. Just a fun, positive place to visit online that’s not full of garbage.

If Twitter and Bluesky are ever going to be nostr clients someday, then there’s a lot of work still to be done that’s not at all about Bitcoin.

That is a fine reason to be on Nostr. But you’re missing about 99.99% of Nostr’s use cases by limiting it to that. For those uses and person-to-person interactions that do inevitably involve money, as so often happens in life, how do you achieve that more effectively than with bitcoin?

My buddy explicitly wants censorship. He has no interest in seeing the crazy stuff people say online. Actually negative interest - it stresses him out. This is why I think it’s important to eventually have client options that block according to individual preferences.

Users having the ability to individually block and mute is very different from attempting to ban certain words and topics for every new user by default.

💯

I think I convinced him he’s better off having total control over what he sees, the ability to audit it, edit it etc.
