I don’t understand why traditional social media companies choose to take on the liability of hosting their users’ content when there are other options. Seems like a bad business move that keeps being repeated over and over again.

My understanding is that FCC Section 230 provides indemnification, but right…seems cleaner to drop that liability

Because they collect the user data and it sell it to the highest bidder. Your data is the product, not the app. Meta is in the money making bussiness, and not in it for “making the world better place” cliche.

If that’s what they want to do, they should just run nostr relays.
