is the goal of said dialogue to find truth, investigate or persuade/reprogram an individuals thinking?

this is kinda the very fear many people have of AI. ie program mass audiences to think in a certain way to control the masses.

At the end of this paper, the researchers address your question and the problem of irresponsible use of AI. In fact, it's not hard to imagine bad uses, with these AI systems propagating false beliefs.
