I don't see it wrong to use custody wallets for Nostr, in my case I do it so as not to expose my node.
Everything has its use.

A signing device for Nostr that holds your nsec?
Yes, mastering decoy wallets 😄
Same. It’s small amounts and less moving parts.
A custody wallet is just fine for zaps. They're fast and easy, and perfect for low volume.
Which one would you recommend?
Only one I check is the LNbits lil purple pusha.
Any reputable one that does not require KYC, for example WOS, Coinos or Blink (the latter using a phone number without KYC, although you can later remove it and put an email without KYC).
How do you get the @walletofsatoshi address ? Does the app give that when you register with another email?
You create a fake email account or use a service like hide my mail and you will be able to create your custom address after receiving or sending 10 payments and sending or receiving 100000 Satoshis onchain, if you don't do that you can use the random address that is created by default.
Seeing this in trending, I might recommend just using boltz.exchange for your lightning transactions while keeping your bitcoins on chain
Why not use your node over tor then?
If you have public channels you will expose them to your identity associated to nostr even if you use Tor, if you have private channels through routing your node could also be associated.
From my point of view it is not a good idea to associate your private node to your Nostr identity, from a security point of view there is no major problem.
Once bolt12 is implemented by everyone and is in general use things will change.
Bolt12?
