Anyone in your personal life think Nostr is dangerous? Like refuses to try it because they think decentralized social media shouldn't be supported.

I got some that wonât touch it because they think nostr = blockchain and if you get anywhere near bitcoin you become an evil ultra right wing libertarian anarcho capitalist.
Even if they are currently on twitter, which has supported bitcoin payments for years now, they canât break the association with bitcoin because of nostrâs marketing. I been saying someone needs to take off the blockchain hashtags from the Nostr World YouTube channel videos for this reason. Nostr is not bitcoin, there are just a bunch of bitcoiners in here currently lol
But I think fundamentally if you think government should control money you'll think that they should also control communication. What's the difference?
You not wrong, I just donât lie to myself in thinking that the majority of folks are thinking about money in those ways right now. I usually explain nostr as seizing the means of communication over cable from corporate monopolies (+ the gov) and that seems to click more for people than the bitcoin integration. Nostr is the underdog here as the only truly grassroots social protocol that provides the most freedom for users.
I agree! It blows my mind that anyone would want to vilify it before even trying it.
