It’s in that order of magnitude. Most estimates I’ve seen have been a bit less than a trillion.

Another interesting way to think about it is 1 Trillion equals paying 20,000,000 people a salary of 50,000 dollars.

So each trillion in debt is about the entire median wages of 20 million Americans for a year.

33 Trillion is… unlikely to be repaid without significant debasement (to say the least)
