Several of the relays I actually pay for seems to very often time out for me or don't work in some way, while several free relays usually work just fine 🤷‍♂️

The timeout is usually just a timeout waiting for OK response, but those are accepted anyway, i think there may be a bug in nostr-rs-relay because i see the event accept time is very low on average but i still get this timeout after 5s on snort

Yeah that was what I expected. nostr-rs-relay development seemed to have stalled a bit

This is what i mean by write response time, this is the actual time recorded by nostr-rs-relay for how long it takes to commit the event to the DB https://void.cat/d/47GRzDc35DP8ziiTVg884Q.webp

Definitely seems like a bug, or at least an unoptimized process somewhere in there

Same occurs here very often

I’ve felt the same thing - mainly for one time payment relays rather than monthly payment. Most of the reputable free relays always work.

It's definitely an issue. There's no established history and reputation for paid relays that justifies their price point. It's a case of chicken and egg bootstrapping problem.

They gotta get paid to experiment, so then they can improve and establish reputation maybe too🤷‍♂️

What a scam... haha. Support Support right haha

Not necessarily a scam, I don’t think they do it on purpose

I know im just kidding 😂

Might be geographic latency? I know bitcoiner social and offchain pub are US West coast. If you're in Europe you probably have ~170ms delay at least with a wired connection. Wireless adds jitter.

Shouldn’t take 5-10 seconds to get a response though?
