Honestly I don't understand nostr... They say there is no algorithm, but certain people I follow I have to seek them out because they rarely ever show on my feed, and I see weeks worth of posts that I have missed.

Is there a way to ensure people you really want to see show up?

Follow active! just scrol the profile of the pleb you like. YOU ARE THE ALGO! 🫂

It may be relay related if you don't always see some people. It can be useful to check relays for people that you want to follow and ensure you share relays to make it easier to find their posts.

We are on many of the same relays. So weird..

Likely is you just miss their posts in time. When the client opens it’s not going to download all content from the beginning of time or since you last opened because that would download too much , it would be like syncing a node. So it’s just going to get the last day or last hour and then stay current until you close the client again. Some clients / services are now introducing techniques and algorithms for this use case. I recommend using the Nostur client nostr:npub1n0stur7q092gyverzc2wfc00e8egkrdnnqq3alhv7p072u89m5es5mk6h0 . It implements Web of Trust which would eliminate your hashtag spam. And it also has a bell notification on profiles you can select so whenever an npub posts that you have “subscribed” to you will get an alert. You can also make custom feeds for specific group of people so it shortcuts what you are doing now, you could put all the people you are having trouble seeing and put them in a single feed. I’d try those things.
