Fall is in the air.....

These chokecherries grow all around us, wild.

Most everyone just ignores them.

We spend gorgeous fall afternoons and evenings gathering up as many as we can.

Last year we got a little obsessed with them.

Generally, pretty tart, and the amount of fruit compared to the size of the seed, is probably why these cherries don't get the love they deserve.

With a little effort, though, they can be turned into amazingly delicious, deep colored jelly.

Would love to share with all y'all if anyone's interest in SATs for jelly, or tade for something you make?

Slipping into your bitcoin-only feed with some NOSTR normie content, with some homemade, home-foraged, chokecherry jelly. Straight from the Utah mountains....

Damnit, last photo was supposed to be of my son's breakfast....

One of my favorite childhood memories is pancakes with chokecherry syrup at Granny's house 🥞💜

Nice! That's awesome.

We made syrup, as well.... Full disclosure, though, it was the first batch of last season, and it was supposed to be jelly, but wasn't boiled long enough, lol.

Great stuff. It didn't last, my kids are every drop.

Yum

Love it! I planted one in my forest garden around 6 years ago. It's still small, but the birds love the berries. Looking forward to being able to make some preserves out of it. <3
