I've been using and writing open source since the 90s so I know about the slow but relentless progress that open source and interoperable protocols enable. So I recognized the inevitability within an hour of joining nostr.

Creating a key and profile on one client, but then having that profile accessible on different apps that have different feature sets and target audiences is such a breath of fresh air. Then I wondered how many people, app developers and businesses have had their hands tied or been kicked out of the walled gardens that are the centralized social networks and appstores. They all have incentives to join #nostr and build where they can't be rugged on a whim.
