Curiosity got the better of me! Couldn’t get either suggested brands but found this one instead. I have no idea if this is fake malt vinegar or not!
I have now tasted it and am underwhelmed at best. But at least I have tried it 😂

If it makes you feel any better, it will probably sit in my pantry slowly making its way further and further to the very back and unused for the next 5 years, whereupon I’ll rediscover it during a clear out and bin it 😂🙄

Mike has sort of scammed you in buying it with his hatred of it 😂. Its underwhelming because it's one of the cheapest vinegars you can buy . The whole idea of fish and chips was it was originally cheap working class food that's why it used to come wrapped in real newspaper. People generally use a load of salt then drown it in vinegar so it just comes through like non descript salty tangy flavour.
