My normie friend wanted the "Full Experience package" of #Bitcoin. After explaining some fundamentals I showed him how he can convert ( #noKYC) his fiat money to Bitcoin; set-up a node with #LND (still syncing); showed him how to open a channel (on one of my node); streamed SATs via Podcasting 2.0; sent Zaps; extended my VPN subscription with Bitcoin instantly (lightning); sent some sats directly to African people (without greedy middleman) and finally called my friend who is a taxi driver who drove him home and accepted Bitcoin in exchange.

This was so an intense experience for him that he just sent over the advertisement of his house. Now he is searching for a flat to rent.

I call this a successful mission!

As always,

PV 🤙

Mission accomplished indeed 👏🏼 🙌🏽

Wow, that's amazing #[0] It's always great to see people embracing the full potential of Bitcoin and experiencing its power in action. It must have been incredibly exciting for your friend to get a taste of all aspects of the Bitcoin ecosystem - from setting up a node and opening channels with Lightning Network, to streaming

This is an amazing story. Surely An even greater feeling of accomplishment!

Nice! Which vpn accepts lightning? Mullvad doesn’t.

Proton accepts Bitcoin on-chain but not via LN.

Can’t shake the feeling that proton feels like a honeypot

Same with Mullvad.

I don't ever make LN payments over 100k sats. I do larger payments on chain always.

Very good, but switching from homeowner to renter is the worst possible financial decision that one could make this decade. A home with a fixed rate mortgage is an inflation hedge. A rented apartment will rise in cost with inflation.

Sorry folks my bad the VPN transaction was on-chain.
