Your coffee cup is always half full at the counter. You get to chat with the staff and theyβre always nicer to the folks at the counter bc they donβt have to take their food to them.

The counter at a shop restaurant where only old men sit and drink their daily coffee and read the newspaper. Similar to the old man bench, couch, or chairs at a garage or mechanic.
