Had a conversation with an older gentleman while we were in the sauna today. He asked me as a young person what's wrong with the world...naturally I began to talk about the corruption of the state and the unilateral attack on family and individual sovereignty.

Looking for solutions I brought up bitcoin and we talked back and forth for almost 30 minutes. Any ways long story short I got his email and his number and He's asked me for more information about bitcoin, so he can start his education. I'm thinking nostr:npub1t8a7uumfmam38kal4xaakzyjccht4y5jxfs4cmlj0p768pxtwu8skh56yu #21daysofbitcoin as a good start.

Does anyone have better ideas or places to go for beginners to start peering into the rabbit hole. Remember people this dude is like 70 so we need to meet him where he is.

Thanks guys.

Send him Andreas Antonopoulos' YT channel.

Yes! And yes!

You don't think that would be too deep for him? Andreas is great but it's hard to digest sometimes

I don't know but I'm older and I think his content is some of the best one can digest when wanting to learn about Bitcoin. His content had big influence on my journey. in particular the older stuff. When things were still simpler like backing up private keys rather than seeds etc.

I think it can't hurt to add a link. At the end it depends on how deep into the rabbit whole that dude wants to dig.

I understand, the only things I've heard from andreas were from a crypto class he taught. It's very good information to have but hard for some people like me. However who am I to decode what is too much for someone right? I'll add it into my email to him.

Is he technically competent? Can he use his devices well?

He doesn't text...so I'm pretty sure it's email and basic computer functions

Is he willing to try? I can send you some good first steps to forward to him.

Def start with the basics. Some Mathew Kratter, some BTC sessions. Early videos. If he understands what Bitcoin really is and means, nostr will be simpler after

The Bitcoin Standard has to be one of the starting books to read.

Dammit I knew this I should have said that....okay I'm going to buy him that book.

An easy read that anyone can follow.

A truly remarkable book

I whole heartedly agree πŸ‘

Yes but not only that.

The way the book is structured makes anyone woth no economic background or technical ability to follow along and take away fundamental concepts about sound money.

Truly remarkable

I hear you, I'm currently reading this bool and I've noticed how easy the concepts are understood. It's lain out in a way that normal people can pick things up from it.

I hadn't thought of this book mainly because I haven't finished it and I would like to read it before suggesting it however I'm going to recommend it to him. I did read fiat standard and it's the same way, easy breakdown, conceptually and from a first principles veiw.

Saifadean just has a way of explaining things

I like the what is money show by Robert Breedlove.

Especially the first 9 episodes with Michael Saylor.

Thank you sir i will suggest this

Another thought idea, use rewards programs like the fold card to start earning bitcoin.

https://use.foldapp.com/r/EMPFJKXY

Have you had a good experience with Fold?

I tried it once about 6 months ago and after my account was created and my fiat bank linked they closed my access to fold because of some unknown reason. They then refused to elaborate on the issue. Or explain it to me further.

Since then I have not tried to use fold nor have I suggested it to people.

I'd love to hear your take though?

I've been using it about 6 months. I haven't heard or had any issues.

Okay, good to know maybe I will give it a second chance

Several people I talked with didn't like the fee to transfer money into it. I always do the free option that takes 1-2 business days. I normally put about $500 at a time and reload when I get down to about $100. I don't use it for everything, because I have a lot of business expenses that I put on my credit card. If I didn't have that I would use it for everything.

I feel like the more we can educate on Austrian economics, and sound money ideas the less volitility we'll have because people are actually using it for transactions and not just as a "store of value" if that's all people are in bitcoin for they are missing out on the most important part.

Wow, this discussion on #bitcoin is fascinating! I actually delved into a similar theme in one of my recent blog posts. I uncovered some intriguing perspectives that could contribute to this conversation. If you're up for it, I'd be thrilled if you’d check out my blog post. https://freemansperspective.com/rosc-15-building-city/

I will check it out thank you for sharing!
