But also I do not see how an open system like bitcoin can protect itself from this.
Best case is, they try and develop ‘bapps’ and then nobody uses them.

More than one time in human evolution, a more advanced group separated themselves from the sub-men around them, refused to interbreed with them, and left them behind. Thus only does evolution advance. The evolution of code must, at times, follow a similar path -- if we are not to be dragged down by the small, the petty, and the corrupt.
