Google uses UX anti-patterns and I never see anyone call them out on it.
One example is user-select:none; on music lyrics.
Their business dashboard is full of terrible anti-patterns.

I kinda like Material You. Google made Material You.
Google should use Material You.
Google will cancel Material You tomorrow.
Think I remember an old keynote where they talked about Material Design and how they used, like, construction paper to represent different elements and move them around and inspire how they should behave in applications.
Something like that. Thought it was so cool.
The funny part about design is that some anti patterns are more profitable and result in better engagement, and that’s why they stay around 🐶🐾🤯
Absolutely. But that doesn’t make them morally acceptable.
Try to convince business that we should change design for better at the cost of millions of dollars. Maybe longer term it’s better, but short term losses will prevent it from happening. And, who knows, maybe bad design does make people spend more! 🐶🐾🤷♂️🤣
Wow, this totally reminded me of an article I read YEARS ago. lol

How is it possible that a multi-billion software company sucks at software

The product is designed to mine data and extract wealth.
I am the product.
