Wen liquid network squirts

For real though, I proposed we wewprk that nip entirely to be a "tips" Nip and not just limit to lightning. There should be as many possible top options as we can think of. Not just lightning. Like why isn't there a simple onchain tip nip, or liquid, cash tags, imagine the normies that don't use BTC yet but have cash app and how that can increase adoption, and as much as I dislike it, even shitcoins. If someone wants to tip me in shit, I'll gladly dump it for them. More sats for me.

Unless we wanna do a seperate nips for every payment method ever.

I disagree. Lightning is the bridge for all payments. We don't need a million standards and custom implementations for everything

I don't understand the desire to limit innovation to one standard...

Besides nostr isn't and shouldn't just be limited to Bitcoin stuff.

Yes, I understand lightning will be the glue that connects all other networks. A wonderful settlement layer. Don't mistake my view as a disregard for the solutions that Lightning brings to payments.

I don't think the solution is one thing. I think it's many things. Liquid, mercury, ark, lightning, fedimints. All solutions. We should not be afraid to explore them all.

The closer we can stay to the Bitcoin ethos the better of course. Self custody. Self sovereign. The closer to L1 the better.

I never said we (humanity) won't be using lightning. Of course we will be. I said it's not the solution to scaling Bitcoin payments to individuals without large custodians.

This. Lightning is the standard and it's good. We don't need to support every other L2. I can zap and receive with cashu wallets, I can also send a token in a DM. No need for NIP.

As much as I think Lightning is a dead end, there is no way to have a NIP for all things. NIPs are specific. If you say "this supports everything" everybody would still have to add support for all things individually.

Not everything, just payments to other users. But yes I understand that each method would have to be specified.
