Exactly this. The moment for me was in December 2023 when I asked my husband to show me his home feeds across platforms to compare them with mine. He was seeing zero news from Gaza, and that’s when I realized they are building and reinforcing multiple divided social realities here, not simply doing censorship.

There’s a book that warned us about this a while ago - I think it’s called “Filter Bubbles” - but it’s wild to watch it play out.
i noticed this with my roommate. it was absolutely bizarre to see how the same platforms would feed us into opposite rabbit holes left/right truth/conspiracy
i feel like i am at a point where i can tell pretty accurately when its manufactured. Most of the clips are non-organic and intended rage bait. Misinformation at its finest.
It is for this very reason I'm trying to get into NOSTR. When you log into social media and you see the same monochromatic opinion over and over again, you begin to doubt yourself and wonder if you're thinking correctly.
