And btw, “switch to Android” doesn’t fix this. It’s the slippery slope that ends with If you don’t build it from scratch, it’s not your device.
This is a bigger problem.

Precisely.

Out of all thr phone operating systems out there. Android is the best. It's open source , anyone dev can contribute to making the OS better. Gives users way more control then windows, apple, and blackberry. And it isn't restricted to just 1 manufacturer. Any phone manufacturer can load up Android; TCL, Samsung, LG etc. I'm a big fan of open source. Just like Linux. So ya. From a developer standpoint point. Android is 100x better. Has been like that for years.
“From a developer standpoint”. Users <> developers. Too many developers miss this.
Switch to Android literally does fix this specific problem.
No. It doesn’t.
It does. There is no threat to Amethyst on Android. Even if there was, Android users could install the apk directly or else download from Fdroid. So the specific problem here--that of iOS users being unable to zap within 14 days--would be fixed by them switching to Android. Ideally Degoogled Android.
You’ve proven my point with the “even if”, which is what those who think Android fixes this resort to. “Even if Calyx and Graphene are compromised, you can build your own OS and phone from the dark matter of the universe.”
This is not what normal users can or will do.
Sounds like we need a nostr phone where your npub key is your telephone number 😂
I’d buy one! 😀
Who’s going to sell the DIY phone kit for zaps?
