I'm not sure what I'm gonna do when Android actually locks down, iOS isn't really any better it doesn't seem, it seems like Linux mobile phones are kinda the only out but it has a long way to go before people will be jumping to that. idk just thinking out loud or in text form rather.

What's the best Linux phone option currently?

custom android OS/ROM

lineage, graphene, calyx

For now this works but I don't think this will be an option in the future. If their goal is to lock down devices I'm sure they have a plan to stop this as well.

i think soon we will start to see FOSS phone models, beyond just linux

or at least, hope 🤞

GrapheneOS don't seem too worried. They are working on a deal with a phone manufacturer.

In the meantime, the current Pixels will run GrapheneOS for as long as you need it. Phones have peaked in terms of technology anyway. Barely any advancements in the last 10 years.
