Just wanted to show off my lettuce bounty. nostr:npub1dgpt04w4c88wc0g262xaw8zvlm4mvwtmjhl0tn2sxtyjywsn6q4qt8ka3a , I moved the remaining ones apart and they're gaining size and strength by the day. A bit sensitive to too much sun, but cover them sometimes mid day. Any tips for final stages welcome

Looking good πŸ‘

Thank you! Took a couple attempts as a newb, but will be easy (knock on wood) going forward

Well I would recommend start harvesting. Take a leaf off every plant till you have a salad. They will just keep growing until the get to hot/stressed & bolt.

Otherwise keep at it & glad to see the cats on the mend i see no rat bites

Or all the lower leafs

Thanks! lol, didn't realize you were meant to pluck evenly across plants! Was wondering how I was gonna put back so many in a short time frame πŸ˜…

Looks like garden salad tonight !

Oh yeah, still on lookout for return of rat but no signs since we cleaned up bird feeding area and put some fresh soil down around the surrounding area.

In the winter i grow in bin its so dense i go in and clear cut. Entire plants right back.

This season's dabbling has taught us a lot. Got a bit more intuition and feel for watering and other intangibles, and plan to scale up a bit next go around. Peppers and herbs have been easy and worth it, tomatoes are final boss now. Plants are huge but fruit minimal. Just whacked/pruned bottom a bit for first time this morning to avoid rot (first try got mold, likely due to my watering it like a garden fairy from atop instead of at base lol). Fun to grow either way though

I believe the final stage is to eat them 🀀

Was expecting maybe they were meant to get fuller, like an iceberg lettuce or something lol, but it's either butter or romaine (I think...will have to double check labels). Eating now, now that I know better

Some can, but if you’re eating it no sense in waiting. I will leave 1-2 heads to give to the in laws but otherwise just cut & come again
