Is there an android keyboard that is not totally awful?
Discussion
Lol, I just use Gboard with network disabled.
Hacker Keyboard was my second choice.
Floris Board is my third choice.
It's not perfect, but I've kind of settled on Floris. Pretty customizable. So you can kind of adjust it if you need to.
I ran Floris with FUTO Voice Input until FUTO released their keyboard.
I have high hopes for Futo's development
I didn't know about Futo keyboard. Using it now, and I'm very impressed!!
I like heliboard

You can add their F-Droid repo, or get it through Zapstore
I can't find it in the F-droid repo. What is the exact name or F-droid link?
It's not in fdroid.
I used to use gboard with network permissions off.
I've now gotten Futo's settings to the point where it's a similar experience.
It took a little while.
no
Unexpected keyboard. I love it but it doesn't have predictive suggestions so I make a lot of typos with it.
no.
My son likes typewise. I haven't tried it yet, but it looked interesting.
#FlorisBoard. Available on #F-Droid. Good, cutomizable, respecting your #privacy.
Forgot to add the link. Sorry. https://f-droid.org/packages/dev.patrickgold.florisboard/
FUTO?
Totally agree! I used blackberry keyboard on android for years, tried to switch to fleksy but still lacks functionality. Eventually found apk of blackberry keyboard from my old phone and happy with it:
- Swipe left anywhere to delete the word;
- Swipe down anywhere to go to symbols;
- Swipe up for particular word;
- Ctrl+C / Ctrl+V;
- Replacements;
- Custom symbol layout.
Just the best!
