paper is an ancient egyptian technology. paper money is a 500 year old printing press technology.
paper money is a printed IOU, which relies on people deciding to honor the stated value of the iou. it has no intrinsic value itself. its value is based in the behavior of others.
Bitcoin is a digital mathematical proof of the existence of stated value. its value can also be checked according to global consensus, without needing to trust an institution to tell you how much its worth.
