What is this influx of new users to Nostr? Bots?

ive seen a couple spam messages, but not 300k bots worth.
actually on global there are a fuckload of Dans, lol, spamming "hello world" constantly
Hey nostr:npub1xdtducdnjerex88gkg2qk2atsdlqsyxqaag4h05jmcpyspqt30wscmntxy does nostr.band count mostr.pub users from the Fediverse bridge?
I've seen messages from this Optimism bot thing, which I think is part of a poopcoin deal. BTC, XMR and precious metals are what I'll work for eventually.
In the short time before I blocked them I got events from about 16k unique DAN npubs all saying the same "hello world" nonsense. Half of the 300k can be them, easily.
Almost certainly bots. It’s inevitable. Just remember there are many forms of censorship, but the most practical one in the digital world is to crowd out useful discussion.
This is guaranteed to occur in many ways unless there’s a prohibitive cost to posting. The next phase will be to make it impossible to discover new quality accounts to follow. Then the popular accounts of today will be targets.
